FAISALABAD: A accident between a passenger bus and a pick up truck carrying diesel barrels on the Faisalabad Motorway near Pindi Bhattian resulted in at least 20 persons, including women and children, being burned to death and 14 others being injured, according to ARY News on Sunday.
Rescue workers said that the tragic bus had 40 passengers on board and was traveling from Karachi to Islamabad.
The injured have been sent to Pindi Bhattian Hospital, according to District Police Officer (DPO) Dr. Fahad. He stated that immediately after the incident, which happened around 4:30 AM, the bus caught fire.
Most of the injured, according to him, were in critical condition. According to eyewitnesses, locals tried to free the passengers from the flaming bus by breaking windows.
According to Dr. Fahad, the cause of the fire in the bus was short-circuiting.
On May 31, when the passenger bus they were riding in flipped turtle after going off a bridge in Khanewal, at least six people were murdered and 30 others were hurt.
Rescue personnel reported that the event had happened close to Pull Rango. They said that the unfortunate bus had been involved in an accident while traveling from Lahore to Multan.
They had stated that the bus had toppled because the driver had lost control of the vehicle while attempting to avoid colliding with a motorcycle.
