ISLAMABAD: On Tuesday, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) revoked the notice from August 29 to hold Imran Khan’s prison trial in the cipher case. Khan is the chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

The IHC had postponed ruling on Imran Khan’s intra-court appeal to avoid being tried in jail for the cipher issue earlier in the day. The IHC rendered a summary decision; a comprehensive one is anticipated to come next.

It’s important to remember that even though Imran Khan’s sentence in the Toshakhana case was stayed by the IHC on August 29, jail personnel were instructed to hold Imran in “judicial lockup” in relation to the cipher case by a special court under the Official Secrets Act.

After being indicted in the cipher case by Judge Abual Hasnat Zulqarnain of the special court, Imran Khan is presently detained in Adiala jail.

Judge Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb and Justice Saman Rafat Imtiaz, who make up the two-member bench, will make the announcement later today.
