ISLAMABAD, (APP) – Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif today launched the Online Temporary Mobile Phone Registration system for abroad Pakistanis and foreign nationals, under which applicants would be allowed to use their phones for 120 days without paying customs taxes.
The scheme would allow abroad Pakistanis and foreign nationalities to use their own phones when visiting Pakistan. They may apply for a free 120-day registration on each visit to Pakistan.
This resource is available to overseas Pakistanis, students studying abroad, workers working abroad, and foreign nationals visiting Pakistan for tourism or business.
The Prime Minister remarked this afternoon at the inauguration event in Islamabad that Pakistani youth are making considerable progress in the area of information technology. He said that there are several prospects in the business that should not be missed. He said that his administration had given adequate funding in the current budget for various youth programs.
Shehbaz Sharif announced the formation of the Special Investment Facilitation Council in Pakistan in order to attract international investment and revitalize the country’s economy. He described SIFC as an economic recovery initiative and said that the IT Ministry plays a critical role in attaining the objectives established in this respect. He emphasized the need of promoting IT parks in the nation in order to boost IT exports. He said that free computers are given to deserving pupils.
To further assist abroad Pakistanis, the Prime Minister said that a non-financial package would be presented in the coming days.
