ISLAMABAD (APP) – Senator Aon Abbas Buppi, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on E-Commerce, urged the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Tuesday to provide assistance to startups and e-Commerce cross-border exporters in the nation.
According to a press release released here, the SAPM also claimed that startups are a rising sector that need all government assistance to foster digital economy and e-commerce.
Senator Aon Abbas Buppi, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on E-Commerce, met with Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR)/Secretary Revenue Division, Dr. Muhammad Ashfaq Ahmed, and Senior Joint Secretary e-Commerce, Ms Aisha Moriani, to address e-Commerce concerns.
Aon Abbas Buppi explicitly urged the elimination of minimum turnover taxes for new businesses to create a more favourable business climate.
SAPM met with FBR Chairman to explore ways to help startups and e-Commerce cross-border exporters. Chairman FBR agreed to work on SAPM’s recommendations and promised that FBR will work with the Ministry of Commerce to create a favourable climate for the e-commerce ecosystem.
Meanwhile, the government has created the country’s first e-commerce university and is pursuing a revolutionary programme to offer trained personnel in the area, according to Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on E-Commerce.
By March 2022, the e-commerce university will be up and running, providing students with inexpensive and high-quality education.
Standard e-commerce university time is required in the country.
He said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) administration had issued the country’s first e-commerce policy in October 2019, which would open up new employment prospects for the country’s young.
E-Commerce policy, according to Aon Abbas, gives communities a roadmap for how to take advantage of this new possibility.
He said that the country’s young make up more than half of the population, and that the e-commerce sector will provide plenty of work chances for them.
According to SAPM, Prime Minister Imran Khan has set a goal of creating 10 million new employment in the e-commerce sector.
To increase workforce in this area, he stated that 10,000 new enterprises must be established and 10,000 new workers must be trained.
He stated that the global e-commerce business is currently worth $30 trillion, with Pakistan’s portion being quite little.
Business to Business trade is worth $4 trillion, while Business to Companies trade is worth $4 trillion.
