ISLAMABAD, Pakistan – The Economic Coordination Committee of the Cabinet allowed the export of specified commodities to Afghanistan in Pakistani currency on Friday, citing the food crisis and the country’s current circumstances.
The clearance came at an online meeting of the committee on Friday, which was virtually presided over by Minister of Finance and Revenue Shaukat Tarin.
The Committee approved the reduction of the 45 percent Regulatory Duty on Afghan Chilghoza imports.
This tariff decrease on this commodity would stimulate the legal import of unprocessed Chilghoza for processing in the nation for export, as well as employment creation in remote border districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and economically depressed sections of Balochistan.
The ECC agreed to hire a third party to carry out the Monitoring and Evaluation tasks of the Kamyab Pakistan Program.
It also approved, as a goodwill gesture on the part of the government, the payment of 11.6 million dollars in compensation to the affected Chinese nationals of the Dasu Hydropower Project incident.
The Ministry of Industries and Production gave a summary of the Urea fertiliser need for the remaining Rabi Season 2021-22 and authorised the operation of SNGPL-based plants for further two months at a gas pricing of 839 rupees MMBTU for the specified duration.
The Committee also authorised a number of technical additional awards.
