ISLAMABAD , (A News) – Mobile phone tariffs have risen two days after the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) administration proposed Finance (Supplementary) Bill 2021 in the National Assembly.
Finance Minister Shaukat Tareen submitted the Finance Amendment Bill in the National Assembly on Thursday under pressure from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
The measure proposed a 17 percent additional tax on imported mobile phones valued at $200 or more, according to documents obtained by Dunya News.
Mobile phones costing more than $200 are subject to a sales tax ranging from Rs1,750 to Rs9,270 per set. Mobile phones worth more than $200 that are imported in CBU condition are subject to a 17 percent sales tax.
