NEW DELHI: India’s government announced on Tuesday that it will accept foreign wheat shipments pending customs clearance, easing restrictions on exports after the country prohibited international sales of the staple on Saturday.

India will also allow wheat exports to Egypt, according to the ministry.

“Wherever wheat consignments have been handed over to Customs for scrutiny and have been entered into their (Customs) systems,” the ministry said, “they will be authorised to be transported out on May 13, 2022, or sooner.”
