Punjab does not have a movie ban on Barbie!

In an odd change of events, “Barbie” is neither restricted nor shown in theaters throughout Punjab!

The Barbie Movie was purportedly prohibited in Pakistan’s Punjab province for featuring pro-LGBTQ content, and the Punjab censor board postponed its approval until the film’s ‘objectionable’ content was changed, according to a tweet that went viral the other day.

That’s not the case, though.

Barbie is not “banned” in Punjab, according to the sources, and the Punjab Film Censor Board even gave it a NOC yesterday.

Punjab has not banned the much awaited Barbie Movie’s release; rather, it has delayed it.

According to authorities, the “Barbie” movie’s premiere in Pakistan’s Punjab region was postponed because of “objectionable content”.

Farrukh Mahmood, secretary of the Punjab Film Censor Board, told AFP that the movie will undergo a thorough evaluation and be censored if appropriate.

He stated that when the inspection and filtering procedure is over, the fantasy comedy, which stars Ryan Gosling as her love Ken and Margot Robbie as the well-known doll, would be approved for viewing.

In Pakistan, foreign movies must be approved by provincial boards that censor anything regarded to go against the social and cultural norms of the nation.
