ISLAMABAD: After the International Monetary Fund (IMF) disclosed how the 10 Billion Tree Tsunami initiative was born, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan took credit for guiding the first administration in Pakistan history to reverse the deforestation trend.

According to a post from the IMF’s Twitter account, Pakistan must conserve its forests in order to survive climate change. “However, deforestation in the country has reached new highs. As a result, the 10 Billion Tree Tsunami was born,” the report stated.

In response to a tweet from the Fund, Imran Khan stated that the PTI government was the first in Pakistan’s history to reverse the trend of deforestation and expand forest cover.
