ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (APP) – Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Shaukat Tarin met with a team from the Pakistan Pharmaceuticals Association (PPMA) led by its chairman, Qazi M Manzoor, on Tuesday in Islamabad.
According to a ministry news statement, the PPMA chairman praised the finance minister for addressing the concerns experienced by pharmaceutical producers and informed him of the ongoing issues relating to the return of sales tax on active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs).
Shaukat Tarin stated that the government was totally dedicated to addressing the pharmaceutical industry’s challenges and providing utmost assistance to them.
He listened intently to their concerns and told them that they would be resolved. He urged the FBR chairman to take all actions necessary to resolve the pharmaceutical sector’s concerns about the sales tax on APIs in consultation with representatives from the pharmaceutical industry.
The FBR chairman also updated the gathering on the actions being taken by the Bureau to resolve the primary challenges confronting the Pharma Industry, as well as the method for resolving the outstanding difficulties with the refund of sales tax on APIs.
The PPMA delegation commended the finance minister for his efforts in resolving industry concerns.
