QUETTA – Dr. Muhammad Ashfaq Ahmed, Chairman FBR/Secretary Revenue Division, paid a visit to Customs House in Chaman on the third and last day of his tour to Balochistan.
Dr. Muhammad Saeed Khan Jadoon, FBR Member (Customs Policy), Mr. Muhammad Sadiq, Chief Collector Customs (Balochistan), and Mr. Rashid Habib Khan, Collector Customs Appraisement, Quetta accompanied him.
The NLC authorities presented the Chairman with a thorough presentation regarding the current ITTMS project, informing him that the project was a significant component of the CAREC Regional Improvement of Border Services (RIBS) Program, with around 42 percent of the work accomplished.
The project was scheduled to be completed by April 23, 2023; however, due to the project’s importance to international trade and regional connectivity, efforts are on to finish it by the end of December, 2022.
Later, Chairman FBR inspected the ITTMS project’s under-construction sites.
Chairman FBR also paid a visit to the Pak-Afghan border crossing (Friendship Gate/Bab-e-Dosti). Colonel Qamar of the Pakistan Army informed the Chairman on the border crossing point and collaboration with Customs officials on cross-border trade, Afghan transit products, and pedestrian traffic.
Following that, the Chairman paid a visit to the Customs offices built at the NLC yard in Chaman.
Despite a lack of sufficient infrastructure, the Chairman praised the Customs’ remarkable income generating performance at Chaman. He expressed his worries regarding the security of Customs personnel and goods, and he urged NLC officials to resolve the situation as soon as possible.
