ISLAMABAD, Pakistan – The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has hiked the price of energy by Rs1.95 per unit, causing still more inflation.
According to a statement released by NEPRA, a fuel charge adjustment of Rs1.95 per unit of electricity has been authorised. In the framework of the August fuel price adjustment, the NEPRA has authorised an increase in power rates.
According to the statement, the rise in power rates due to the fuel adjustment will be paid in October bills. It goes on to say that electricity users will face an extra expense of Rs30.4 billion. Electricity customers, on the other hand, would have to pay an additional amount in their October bills.
Meanwhile, neither the NEPRA judgement nor the K-Electric decision will apply to lifeline users or K-Electric customers.
